For me it's the function of the forum, what do you want it to be?
A heated debate forum over fandoms?
A place for support?
Just a chill zone?
That's for me the important thing. After that you know your target base and you can easily focus on growing your forum.

It would be keeping spambots and hackers out. However, that's not very tough to do if you know how. My early experiences with forums were a nightmare - which due to my immaturity, got me thinking spambots were real people.

Niche and goals, both are very important. If your niche is not interesting, you may not be able to attract a lot of members. If you are not clear about what you want to achieve with the forum, or let say if you are unsure about your forum goals, your forum will never succeed.

I think that for me the most important would be how the forum is going to be managed and what systems can be put in place in order to remove and reduce the spammers.

I think that a good system of points and paying money to the members is one of the most important things because paying people to post on the forum would encourage them.

Sustainability is key, therefore, you should focus on keeping your forum open for at least 2 years even when you do not have any revenue system on the forum. You also need a marketing plan

I guess that the one of the best ways to gain sustainability is to offer rewards for posting. This is something that many great forums like Bizdustry does. Paid forums attract more visitors and users.

I think the major thing is the purpose in which the forum serves. You need to make it to be satisfying to people who will be coming here to get valuable information.

I think setting up rules is the most important thing these days. Many people abuse forums and other media sites It's not cheap to build a forum and you never know if it's going to work out, so just make sure you spend the money that you're not scared of losing. It's just how it works. No matter how good the forum is, you need to attract people there somehow. Maybe by setting up a reward system like in bizdustry it would require more work and things like that, but it would definitely attract some people.

The forum is a very wonderful platform where you can earn some cash for yourself. It is very imperative for the owner of the forum to have the basic knowledge on how to run it. It involves a lot of time and money for a start because you are not expected to make gains immediately you start and you will need to continue to pay members if it is a paid to post forum.

I think setting up a goal and target that can satisfy members, will more attractive and always try to meet up to there demand in terms of customers service provided.

When you create a forum, the most important resource is the users. You will need to attract people to join your forum.

If you are transferring a forum to a new platform you will have a pre-existing user base. Make sure you explain why the new platform is worth joining

First thing first before starting a forum, is very important to know what the people want and what problems is the forum going to tackle in the society. Fixed a target and organised your forum in way that will attract people.

I agree with your point that know what you want used the forum for is first thing. If the reason of creating forum is obvious from onset, it would be easy to promote it. And it will help in targeting the right people. For instance, if I create a forum now how to make money online, I Know the people I will target and possibly know where I can get them.

You have to make sure that you have enough capital that can be running and sustaining day forum for a long time and you should also have members that are capable of building it.

Yeah, forums are good places to learn a lot of things. I've been able to discover many ways of making money online through many forums. I prefer them to social media platforms.

Forums are good for learning and earning. I have always shared money making tips with many people on the forum and I have been using forums for a long time. I remember working on a forum several years ago as well.
