There are so many great premium video editors which are all water-mark free. The free video editors are good but will always come with reduced features and also a water-mark in every video it's used to edit.

What's the best water-mark free video editor you've used which you can recommend for a newbie video editor who can't pay for a premium version?

I use Adobe Premiere. Obviously, it costs money (I do the monthly subscription), but it's the best I've worked with so far. I'm a YouTube creator, so it's a good investment for me.

In the past, I've used Windows Movie Maker (which is bad because it doesn't work with 4K), Vegas Pro (good at first but became slow when I go 4K60FPS or 5K240FPS, and a few others, which were never that good.

Premiere has proven time and time again to be the best for me.

I film mostly using a GoPro so I do use the GoPro desktop software to add additional image stabilization and trim video files before I edit them using Premiere.

It extends the editing process but makes life a little easier. The GoPro software is free, too.

Adobe products have been renowned over the years when it comes to being very good in what each one of them is used for. It might be expensive but worth it for the services you're getting from it.

I haven't used the GoPro software which you said is free. I'll most likely give it a try and see exactly what it offers.

I downloaded the GoPro software to my Desktop and played with it. For me, it's merely a better player software for GoPro video. However, it has the ability to add an extra level of stability on a clip-by-clip basis. I do like that. Sometimes, the built-in gimbal fails to work properly, and that option allows me to add stabilization during post.

I use canva for editing shorts. To stay in free mode - delete the shorts from your account once you download it to your computer. And make sure you empty the trash bin (on canva), too.

I currently use shotcut at the moment, because I don't have money to do editing.

I've had good time with using Canva over the years. I started out with the free version and also have the smartphone app version too before I decide to move up to the premium version.
