What skills do you think are most important for travel? How do you develop them?

In my opinion, the best skills that can come in handy are communication and map orientation. First of all, you need to communicate with people, you will not be able to visit the country without talking to someone and avoiding problems on your own. Second, you are not in your own country and all you have is a map, so you need to be able to understand the area and understand the map, because I know that many people do not know how to do this.
