What is "website backend"? Why does it matter?

Creating a website could be far much more complicated than many people may think. We may think that website is just a collection of pages that contain information and content. However, it could be much more than that in the end. This what we call website backend. So, what is it what does it consists of?

Whatever design and graphics that you are seeing on the front page or home page of a website are all carried out at the backend of that website. This is because that's where the actual administrative work on a website is being carried out and without having a backend, it is always going to be very difficult for you to have anything on the homepage.

Let's use this forum Bizdustry as an example. All the relevant information/data which you're seeing in the frontend like the logo, how the navigation system is designed, and every other features on display different from the posts members makes are all presented in the backend.
