In a layman's language stock market is a place where stocks are traded. It is a place where an ordinary investor may invest a good amount of money and buy shares in order to sell it in the stock market. So, do you think that this definition alone is enough to define a stock market?

A stock market is a place where common people buy and sell assets that have on various publically traded companies. Companies raise funds by selling their stocks through the stock market.
