What is scarier horror movies or horror books?

To be honest, I haven't watched very scary movies, but somehow I started reading the book because I thought that because these events are not depicted there, they won't be so scary, but this is definitely not true. If there are no depicted characters and events, then while I'm reading I just imagine it all in my head and it's much scarier because the brain has no boundaries and you can come up with so many things that will be even scarier than the movie
