Was there something special that got you into forums? A friend, maybe a thirst for knowledge or even just as a hobby? (By into forums, I mean as a member, not in an owners sense)

For myself, it was for socialising purposes. I loved the fact that I could meet people from anywhere who shared a common interest!

I was 13 years old... that was about.....14 years ago or something like that :p I was just getting into static website building and had mastered HTML and CSS in like 3 months :p I then discovered a ProBoards powered forum and liked it a lot. I found the link to the PB homepage and created a forum :) I was on proboards server #1 back then too ;)

The rest is history, present and future :p

I have grown to like forums more than anything when making websites :) I always try to incorporate a forum into a website if possible :D

For me, it was link generation- the fact it was so easy to gain links from forums that help your PR. But then I realized that forums are a fantastic information source and they're fun!

It was for an online game I played. They told me to register on the forums and I did and eventually came to love forums.

I'd imagine a lot of people get into forums through games.....

For me it was a bit ago, just out of boredom i joined a forum and then started enjoying the communities and such. It was fun developing online friendships...which at the time, was a pretty new concept

I found one randomly one day, a gaming forum and I was real young at the time so I was like "I'm not allowed to go into chat rooms, but this is practically the same thing and you can avatars and signatures omgomogmomg". I posted soooo much... Double of what I'm doing now and could get a thousand posts in like two weeks, it was craaaazy.

I wanted to know how these big forum administrators manage the forum, so this urge me to be an administrator and monitor what it is all about.
