When you create a site what goals do you set for it, and did you reach some?

I like to set 3 month goals for my sites. I only currently have blogs and forums. For the blogs, I like to see an increase in traffic and focus on making at least 4 blog posts per month. So my 3 month goal would be something like 12 blog posts and seeing an increase in traffic of 10% or more. For forums, I like to gain at least 2 new members per month that remain active. So a 3 month goal would be 6+ members. There are other things as well but they are minor.

I think that the most important goals that you should be able to set for your site is the number of viewers that you get in order to see how many people you are reaching. This is very important because it will also give you an indication of how much your users are engaging with you and it will also give you an indication of which advertising agencies you will be able to apply for to use.

In my forum, I try to increase users engagement. My goal is to get 10% more engagement from users, it may be from their answers or by them posting new questions in my forum. I feel happy when I see my forum buzzing with activity.

Engagement is an important milestone that you have to meet if you are running a forum. There is a lot of focus that is placed on teh traffic to teh site, and that is something that i tend to look at as well, however engagement is often overlooked. This will actually give you an indication of how many of these people are actually interested in the forum and making use of it and to top it off it will also help with the advertising companies that are able to place ads on your site because they will see the higher engagement rates.

The primary goal for my sites is to generate revenue. I create sites in order to make money, therefore, my site should be making money. My secondary goal is to sell the site for a high price, take the money and move on to create another site.

I'm not so interested in getting members, as building content. Anyway, it would be cool to have as many members as other drumming forums at some point. I especially would like a lot of contributing members, as in people making a lot of posts, especially regarding drumming, and to a lesser extent, music and/or other instruments.
