I have using forums for online discussion since 2015 and I have used hundreds of forums in the past 9 years but never in my life have come across to many political forums. In my opinion, politics is not a popular niche for a forum. However, I have a desire to create a political discussion forums where I want users talk about international politics. What do you think?

In fact, I've never come across a forum about politics and I don't think it would be beneficial because all the people would be arguing a lot. Some would not want to be treated badly, so they would simply leave the forum and thus you can lose a lot of users. In my opinion, on forums people should unite around one question and not be against each other

political forums is a nice idea, people are more interested in entertainment but political ideas are necessity

Think from the perspective of a owner. If people argue, they will be creating more posts and the forum will be a thriving community

Whilst political forums are a great idea, I feel that strict rules are needed to ensure that order is controlled. With political forums, you are bound to get users who have different ideas, opinions and beliefs and without clear guidelines that could get out of hand quickly.
That's very true. Sometimes political discussions can go out of hand and there will be a lot of controversy in your forums, sometimes there might even be racial remarks. However, if you can control the discussion from going out of hand, I time little controversy can be good as you will be getting a lot of responses and a lot of visits as well.

I think political forums will give you a run for your money in terms of moderation experience.

That might be the one niche where you actively have to give "spankings" all day long, every day LOL

I have a political section on Off Topic Forum, that's about all I'd want to tackle.

But political forums might be the best niche to make content go viral!

Political forums can be a difficult niche for an admin to get into. If you cater to one side, you'll end up with a echo chamber but if you try to cater to different sides it could lead to some heated debates so you'll need strong moderation. I also think you need to be very passionate about politics too.

I think you need to be apolitical but, as you said, very knowledgeable of politics.

Being apolitical can ensure that your community stays open to everyone of all parties unless you want the forum to be one-sided.

If you want to create a forum for Republicans it can be easy, but if you want to give equal space for both Republicans and Democrats, you can have tough time. If you are running a political forum it is quite difficult to remain apolitical and it is not possible to remain neutral because you will always have an opinion. Should Israel stop war, should it wipe out Hamas, you will of course have your opinion and not everyone will agree.
