Freelancing is a popular way to make money online. However, for a lot of people freelancing remains just a dream because they either cannot find clients or they cannot get a lot of freelancing contracts. The main reasons for not being able to sell as a freelancer are:

Lack of skills in the high paying niches

Selling services in saturated niches

Poor pitching skills

Not selling customized services, or unique services.

What other reasons can you identify? We will love to hear your story.

You can also add poor communication skills to it. I have a friend who is aggressive and respond to people anyhow, including potential clients. This drives them away most of the time.
Someone who does not have regard for people and feels like he can say anything and get away with it will definitely find it difficult to get clients.

I think fear is the biggest.

A lot of new freelancers I know just don't want to cold pitch because they're afraid of rejection.

Rejection is going to happen.

At times, you can ask why? Do so in a friendly way. If they tell you, that information is education and can be used to strengthen your pitch in the future.

Too many people wait for clients to comes to them when they could be rich with clients if they only got over the fear to ask first.

That's very true. A lot of people create a gig on Fiverr and wait for clients to buy their gigs. This is not going to happen, you need to work hard to improve your visibility, you need to find clients and then reach them and pitch your services. You cannot just sit and expect that your services will sell like hot cakes.

Cold outreach is the best way to do it.

And if you're not doing it, someone else it, and that someone else if getting clients that could be yours.

Being very bad as customer service is definitely one of them.

If you keep treating your new and existing clients in a very bad way especially when there's an issue with the job you did, they're less likely to use your services ever again. They will go on to write a bad review about your service which tanks it more.
Also true. If the clients are not treated right they definitely won't be coming back. And thats only natural as we all want to be treated like royalty, especially when we are paying for a service.

Positive reviews are very important. When I was starting on Odesk (now upwork), the first job was hard to come. In fact I got my first job because my friend convinced a client to hire me. However, when the first job got me a positive review, second, third, and fourth jobs were easier. You should always strive to get positive reviews. If you are new, you need to work for reviews.

Nobody needs to wait for clients to buy their gigs. There are some hard work you need to put first.

Improve your visibility
Have a good customer service
Always strive to get positive reviews though this one comes when your customer service is right.

Do you also realize, you can get positive reviews only when you have made at least one sale. For a starter, getting positive reviews is not possible. Improving visibility is must but for that you also need to be expert in SEO and digital marketing. These days no matter what kind of services you want to sell, SEO and digital marketing, both are must.

Yes, that's very correct. It was the same experience I had when I started my service gigs on Seoclerks. I nearly gave up at one point but lucky, I had my first order. It boosted my sales 10x after my first review.

In addition to the problems you highlighted, a lack of internet presence is another reason why online freelancers may fail to find enough clients. For example, if your Upwork profile appears unprofessional, it may turn off potential clients. Establishing a profile that clearly demonstrates your expertise and skills is indispensable. Including client testimonials can boost your credibility, and making sure your profile looks professional and visually pleasing is crucial.

I have done a lot of hiring through freelancing sites and one of the criteria I look for is when the person was online last time and what is his respond time. Online presence is one of the important criteria for hiring. No one wants to hire a person who was online a week ago o takes a week to reply. You need to check the platform where you are selling services every day and respond to the message very quickly
