Were you offered a business for free?

There are many people out there who buy businesses. Some of the people may receive businesses for free. I think that children receive businesses from their parents, as they inherit the business from their parents. This is the only case I have heard of where a person gets a business for free. So, what are some other cases where a person may get a business for free?

If you are talking about ownership, then you have exhausted every reasons in the thread. What I also think that can make a business be acquired for free is act of goodwill. When you have done something remarkable for someone in the past, they may decide to gift you a business for free for how you were supportive of what they've been through then although this is always rare case, if you ask me.

Well, I have not been offered business for free but I have been pitching my idea for a long time in the hope that my idea will be used and I will be given a share in the company without having to invest anything. MY father has a farming business, and I might inherit his business someday

There have been cases where a person never had any kind of relative or offspring. They had to handle over a business to someone they know. In the end, they ended up handling the business to some of their close relatives. I really wonder what happens if you leave a big business behind without declaring a will?

I've never been offered or given any business for free. Who even gives a business to another person for free to manage and start making money from a business the person doesn't know how it started? If my family had a business, then might have given me a managerial role in it.
