Does website traffic effect alexa ranking in anyway? Some websites get good traffic even though they are not really popular where as some other websites, even after accumulating quality content, doesn't have enough traffic.

So what do you think guys? Just how much the website traffic effect the ranking of a website?

It's interesting to note that Alexa traffic can be created by bots or possibly some scam with pop-under or redirected traffic. In that case, using Alexa as a metric for SEO ranking would be massively dishonest. In that case, I think Google and other engines ignore Alexa ranking - as these engines are normally pretty tough - especially Google.

Yes website traffic help to improve Alexa rank for your domain. Alexa measures the traffic on your website and provide a numerical value to rank your domain in search engines. Alexa rank can be improved by good content update and also by building backlinks from other relevant sources.

Alex ranking is on the basis of the toolbar installed on the browser. And that traffic is a bit fake. So you can guess those who are not on the toolbar. It tends to make you wonder if the traffic has flaws, what is the point of even bothering about the alexa ranking. I personally think ranking from alexa is waste of time. You should be paying attention to Google analytics and the views.
