Persuading others to make a purchase can be done in a number of ways, many of them are just wrong and will not bring repeat business or referrals, and you’ll likely feel like a piece of shit at the end of the day if you are using manipulative tactics. The good news is selling without manipulation is pretty easy, and if you are selling something you don’t mind representing to people with whom you enjoy or don’t mind interacting, you can do well in sales without feeling like a sleeve, so to sell someone a service or product a couple of things need to happen. You need to understand the product service and be able to discuss it in detail, confidently if you have that covered then everything else is about your customer,you can improve their lives, solve a problem, make something easier or better, you may sell something that a person buys only when a certain thing happens, for example, diapers for a newborn. If you were the most manipulative, charismatic person of all time you would not be able to convince me to buy those because I have absolutely no need and will not ever have a need for them,so make sure you are focusing your efforts on people who fit the criteria necessary to need your product service when you engage a prospective customer speak with them, ask open ended questions to help uncover their needs problems which you can solve with your product service. Being customer focused needs to be sincere and genuine because your customer needs 3 things before they will buy from you. They need to know like and trust you. If you listen to your customer, understand how they describe the issue they have, learn what an impact your offer could make on their life and can honestly say you care about their satisfaction with your product service, and if you can speak to enough potential customers who are likely to need what you offer they can afford it, they have characteristics or demographics or purchase history which you know indicate they would like your product service, you can have an enjoyable sales career which is rewarding and lucrative.
