The Following feature is something that's very common in forum. It gives you the opportunity to follow your members and have them follow you as well. What using this feature gets you is a notification whenever the user you've followed create a new topic or thread.

Do you make a habit of following some of your members?

Not all forums have a follow feature, though I'm all for the option, I don't think it's a necessity. Like, my forum could do without it. But I have no issue if others want to do it. I just don't see people following many of the users on my forums, so I rarely add the option.

I have not enabled this feature on my forum. I do not use this feature on the forums where I am a normal users or even a staff. Since I do not follow other users, I never considered using this feature on my forums. I frequently see people following me but I have never followed them back. I don't see why I should follow any specific members. I like checking new posts/threads instead.

Yes I think you are very correct, it is not something that is on every forum and it as a result of the forum software that is used to set up that forum which makes it to be available on it for members to make use of and follow who they want.

The Following feature is not essential for all forums, it can be valuable in fostering connections, encouraging discussions, and building a sense of community among members. I might just give it a shot.

I believe that it's not something that's available in all forum softwares but personally, I see it as something that's very important just like you mentioned in fostering connections, encouraging discussions, and building a sense of community among members. It helps you to find it easy getting updated about someone you're always keen to reading their contents.
