Using a Prototype for Projects

In my drum lesson stuff, I make a prototype lesson in which copies are made which only vary somewhat from the original. For instance, one might have fills that are sixteenth notes and each copy would have the 16th notes moved around the set on different drums.

Anyway, I first heard of this idea from computer programming. Basically, a certain method of doing one thing is made and each copy coming from it is slightly varied.
