So on your forum do you use usernotes and if you do what do you use them for?

I like them to perform background checks on users when hiring them but also to keep tabs on users- they are a handy moderation tool, and one that once saved me hiring a known spammer :)

So do you use usernotes & what do you record in them?

I think that it makes a lot of sense to do a background check on other forums for a user however this is not always going to work because if you think about it they might now use the same username on each forum.

User notes from my understanding do not have t do with the bans and the warning but can also be random notes that you make on a member in order to track their progress.

Yes in fact some of the forums have public view of notes so we know who is good for forum and bad for forum specially for those forums which have marketplace where people make deals.

It's always good to maintain records of those who you hire. My website is a one-man show. Would definitely do some background check before hiring someone to my website.

I have never seen a public view of these notes because this does not seem like something that the admin would do to name and shame however there are walls that others can comment on their content.

Yes but sometime it is necessary as I'm afraid to share a name but it is very active webmaster forum which have marketplace where you will see team member's notes of specific member's profile which only other use can see to alert others.

Marketplace is something that is used in all of these forums and therefore when you can see usernotes on someone if they are not reliable it is very good for users to not engage with them and trust them in teh market.

I assume that it makes a number of experience to do a history test on different boards for a person but this isn't continually going to paintings due to the fact in case you reflect onconsideration on it they may now use the identical username on every forum.

According to what I understand, user notes are simply notes you make about a member to keep tabs on their progress and have nothing to do with warnings and bans.

I have never felt any necessity to have a user note. My forums are small. The biggest forums I own have less than 100 active members. Therefore, I am able to keep track on my users without any user notes.
