Upgrading Your Hosting Package

What factors do you consider when upgrading your hosting package? Let's say you have a shared hosting, when do you decide on moving to Virtual Private Server or Dedicated Server?

I've done it before, but it was overkill. Anyway, I could only see the justification to go from shared to VPS or VPS to dedicated as being some situation of larger traffic.

If you have larger traffic, shared hosting might be able to handle it. However, if you are running websites that processes sensitive information, for instance, credit card information, I think it is better use VPS or Dedicated Servers.

I’d say it’s mostly about traffic, but if your site deals with sensitive info, like credit card details, moving to VPS or a Dedicated Server makes sense for better security.
