You know you are old when you still try to force two spaces after a period when typing a sentence in an editor like used here or even in most word processors now apparently.
Back in the "bad old days" you had to do this on the typewriter to give some distance between each sentence. Now, with computers and proportional fonts, it is not needed and in many cases you can't even get the editor to do it. That is like in this post, every sentence I have written uses two spaces as that was how I was taught in typing back in the latter 1970's. But when I save it, I'm pretty sure they are going to be reduced to one space. It was just something I noticed when working on an article for my site tonight.
The simple things that may make you go hmmm at times.

On a related note, sometimes on my regular computer, I'll hit space twice assuming it's going to put a period on the end of the sentence because that's what my phone does and then I have to go back and fix everything :p

And I never even used a cellphone until I was 18. The smartphone came out when I was in my 20s.
