Is Tesla in decline?

Cheap mainly Chinese imports have hit their margins massively, so much so that they had to halve their prices not long ago, and just very recently a small press release has been snuck out that they've had to recall 700,000 vehicles over safety failures and they will need to perform remedial works.

What's going on with Tesla? Is Elon's attention focused elsewhere? (cough cough tweety twoo) Or is this just a natural result of competition developing over time?

Tesla vehicles are not for the mass, they manufacture luxury vehicles for the niche market. I like Tesla but when I finally want to buy an EV I will choose BYD, which is now the biggest EV maker, surpassing Tesla sales. I do not want to use the word cheap because it can mean different things. I would rather use the word affordable. BYD cars are affordable, the manufacture for the masses. Only few can afford luxury vehicles
