I believe that every administrator wants to have a Staff Board in order to let staff members to communicate, ask questions, make suggestions, chat etc. How many staff boards does your forum have? Do you think that they're useful or they are just there to increase the messages of the forum?
Personally, when I used to own a forum, I had different staff boards for each team and one which every staff member from every team had the permission to post. However, I had never let someone to make complaints. Fights can begin with just a word. And it is annoying to see conflicts between staff members, isn't it?

Yes it can be when you have a big team that is enthusiastic about it, and it actually is a better idea to have seprate forums for the staff groups, I do that too. But there is also one common for all the staff to interact as well. And yes it does helps the post count too.

Shoulda seen our VIP section recently, haha. Wasn't so much a fight but...xD

But we have/had two here on WGBB. One for all staff and one for admins only. I believe we post in them very rarely so I hope they are not inflating our stats that much! Either way, I don't believe they count towards the overall post count. :p

I have such a section on my support forums, but only because I was talked into creating it by the staff member...Personally I think that such sections are a waste of space.

As long as there are more than two members on the team (i.e. not just myself and another person), the yes I would have a staff section. It makes it easier to organise the staff and convey important information to the team. Its much easier than doing it via other means (e.g. private messaging), and allows everyone to get involved in the conversation.

Even if you are a one person administrator, I feel that having a board to yourself, where you can store information to use on the rest of the board, is crucial for organization. I mean, take a promotion board for example. If you're running services, it's nice to have templates to use in those services. It makes the service seem more professional and organized. Well, where do you put those templates? A staff board! :)

Most times I will just PM my global moderator and talk to him like that, rather than via a forum post. It's just easier to talk in that way rather than relying on a forum post and wondering if he's read it or not.

if you have at least a few staff members, then yes, at least one staff forum is required. It's easy to discuss issues, promotions and much more.
