Should you get a domain for many years or just one?

I think it comes down to what you want to do. I usually pay monthly, but have paid full on yearly as well. I think paying up to three years would be nice, as it would let you have a break from dealing with it for a while. But yeah, I think it's what your preferences are.

Domain registrations are always for one year, at the least. Is there some place that's not true?

Getting a domain for many years has nothing to do with SEO, getting traffic, earning revenue etc. It does keep your domain renewal costs down, though. When you have renewed for many years, you will also save money when the prices increase.

That's a good point. I haven't thought of that. Anyway, dot coms have certainly went up, but not as much as food, lol.
When I knew about dot com, it used to cost $5, these days the average price is around $13. However, you can still get a dot com for a bargain price as there are a lot of offers to be grabbed. For instance, on Namecheap you can get it for $8.
