I frequently see jobs related to community staff position on various promotional communities where the poster tells that the position is free and will start paying once the community starts earning. They promise to share revenue. Have you actually hired anyone by promising to share revenue, were you actually able to generate revenue and share with your staff? Have you worked on any position where you were promised a share in the revenue, did you actually receive revenue share?

Have any of those forums actually earned any revenue to share?

I don't know of any forums where they actually earned enough to pay their staff. Bizdustry used to pay its staff and Alex always said he was paying form his pockets. I have never worked on any forums where I was promised to pay once the revenue builds up. Since I run forums and blogs and I know how difficult it is to build revenue, I have never believed in those promises.
