Has anyone here sold their photos to stock sites or anyone? I have thought about selling some of my photos, but I don't know how much stock sites tend to pay. Is there a going rate for photos?

Over at Clickasnap, it all depends on how many views and/or comments you get per photo. So you're not actually selling your photos to the company - you're just allowing them to publish the pics online.
You also have the option of deleting your photo(s) at any time. They have various memberships too, so you can get paid per view, or you can choose to become a more advanced seller, where your photos can go onto coffee cups, become posters, framed pics, etc.
I just have the basic seller membership, where I get paid per views and comments.
I was never a fan of selling my photos to a company alone, because then they own the rights to your pics, and you may or may not ever own them again.

If you can sell your photographs to stock sites, it will bring you passive income. You will be making money from the same photo for a long time. However, selling is really difficult. I have never been able to sell any photos.

Selling your photos to stock sites can be a good way to make money from your photography. There are many websites that allow you to sell your photos online, such as Shutterstock, iStock Photo, These websites offer catalogs of photos sourced from contributors and pay out earnings based on their payout rates, which can range from 20% to 30%1. Some websites also have affiliate programs that can increase the income by referring new photographers or customers.

I think that trying to sell photos on different kinds of stock sites would be the best option for people who would like to make money. There are many different kinds of online marketplaces where you could sell photos and make money.

Trust me, selling stock photos on multiple sites is more difficult than getting freelancing contracts on freelancing marketplaces. I am saying this based on my personbal experience. I have tried and I have failed.

Well, what contracts are you talking about? I have never heard about this. Are you talking about selling photos on freelancing platforms where buyers like magazine editors are always searching for photos? I am not aware of any such marketplace, though. However, I have heard about Shutter Stock and similar marketplaces.

selling photos on stock sites is one of the best passive income options. If you are good with a camera, then using your talent and skills can earn an income. However, I would recommend that you look beyond stock sites. there are higher paying options. Here are two of them
  1. Travel Niche: Many travel blogs and newsletters pays up to $50 per photo, and some will pay about $150 if you include a 500 - 750 word review about your photos. Places like Matador, TripAdvisor, etc
  2. Feet fetish websites: These websites will pay for photos of different feet. The last service I reviewed offered $75 per accepted photo, funwithfeet, and there were people who claimed to earn $1,000 per month from these sites.
There are many more options that do pay well for photos.

Read closely what I said. I said selling stock photos on stock photo website is harder than getting freelancing contracts (freelancing jobs) on freelancing marketplace (freelancing sites like Upwork, Fiver, etc.)

Oh! I have never worked as a freelancer and sold photos on such kind of marketplaces. However, I have worked as a writer for sure on content mills. Therefore, I never had any idea about what you are talking about.

Selling photos and being a freelancer on freelancing sites are two different things. I was just comparing how difficult it might be to sell photos. I have tried selling photos on multiple sites and never sold any photos. However, I have made really good money selling my freelancing services.

Well, those might be different things. However, I have also heard about many online magazines buying photos at a really great rate. The fact of the matter remains that you also get the chance to get your photo published on the front page of the magazine as well.

The photos you put on sell on stock photography websites do not get credited if they are bought by people or organizations. With photos, you are also selling your rights. Selling photos through stock photography sites is just like selling your articles through freelancing sites where you forfeit your rights.

Obviously when you are being paid for a photo, you may never get credited for that because rights are automatically transferred to the party who purchases such photos. However, I think that certain sites like Pixabay allow you to offer donations to the photographer.

Well getting good pictures and working on them is not so easy so if you're going to sell your pictures to stock sites I feel you should only consider doing so if the site will pay you a reasonable amount.

I believe that there is nothing wrong in selling pictures of such websites as long as you can be able to do it which there is a lot of competition on such platform where you are trying to sell your picture so you have to give something that is exceptional for people to be interested in buying yours.

The decision to sell your photos on stock sites depends on your goals, expectations, and personal circumstances. It can be a good option to generate passive income, gain exposure, and diversify your portfolio. However, it's important to carefully read and understand the terms and conditions of each stock site, consider the potential drawbacks, and assess whether it aligns with your overall photography objectives.

I have a friend of mine who makes use of Shutterstock when it comes to selling his pictures. He's been using the site for years now and he's made a lot of sales because of how unique his pictures always are.

I don't think selling ones beautiful and unique photos on a stock websites such as photo stock is a bad idea. It's a way of showing to the world how good looking you're. The only aspect I dislike about this is reveling ones nude pictures online.

You can't sell nude pictures on such website. It's not a porn website, Twitter or Only fans where such kind of pictures are allowed. It's unique and rare pictures that are allowed on the site.
