If you are a writer, you can make money in two ways, one, by creating a self-hosted blog and monetizing with ads, and two, by publishing on article sites and earning for ad impressions, views, or engagements. I have done both and based on my experience I can say that self-hosted blogging is very rewarding but making money by publishing on article sites is easy.

Glad you have experience of both and are able to differentiate if which is easy and which is more rewarding, I still need to learn a lot about it
