How do you handle rude comments on social media statuses or blog comments? Do you just ignore the comments, let your readers handle it, or do you entertain the commenter by killing them with kindness?

I'm asking because I have this one person who regularly comments on my social media statuses with semi-rude/sarcastic comments. I usually ignore them, but I'm wondering how other people handle this type of thing.

You know me, I nearly always retaliate to someone talking s**t and I suggest you do the same, because I know for a fact that you're good at thinking up nice ways to own people with kindness ;)

Well if the rude/sarcastic comment makes sense, try to reply why you posted that. Otherwise just reply with explaining why s/he is soo wrong in a sarcastic way. If s/he continues on sticking with his/her wrong point of view, just ask your friends personally to reply him/her.

Where are the comments being made and are they by people you know in the real world?

If it was me I would take a judgement on their intention. If I felt they were just having a bit of fun and didn't mean any harm by what they were doing, I would remind them that their comments are public and that not all readers will interpret them in the spirit they were intended. If I believed the person was being malicious, I would ban them or otherwise block them from commenting.

Back when I was blogging, I usually just removed the comments or replied stating why their comment is rude in a respectful manner. I honestly love comments, but if someone will take the effort to make a rude meaningful comment, then I will take the effort to remove it.

I really don't understand why people make these comments, is it because they are actually mad or just jealous at something?

I start asking why is that member making those comments, if it does those comments again, they are going to be deleted.
