Profile Comments on Forums

Advertisement Placeholder
I have in the past, but don't frequently comment on people forum profiles. I just never see the point to do so. But I think it's a good feature to add to your forum, as it gives users the ability to converse more, and within a more personal area.

I rarely make use of profile comments. However, when someone leaves comment on my profile that's fine for me, however, I do not like people when they start bothering with unnecessary comments on the profile page.

I will always prefer to hit someone up in the DM right away instead of commenting on their profiles on the forum. It is more private commenting on a dm where not everyone can be able to have access to what you are discussing DM with those people too.

I rarely use it these days. The last time I took anything like that seriously was when one of my friends used it as a status update machine to post witty comments, and I would enjoy paging through them.

It is possible that I could revive that idea for my own forums, but I am not sure that I would have enough witty comments to sustain a steady rate of production to keep people coming back to my profile.

I think this feature is for the user to share updates, just like they do on social sites, however, some people are misusing this system by spamming someone's profile. My forums do not have this feature.
