Possibility of Success With Viral Marketing?

Nowadays more and more people are joining lots of social networking websites, like facebook, twitter, google+ etc. So the chances of your content to become viral is increasing day by day.

Have you had any luck on this?
If yes what are your strategies?

I have had success a few times with youtube and facebook. The idea is basically simple. If you are doing this for facebook, create some content with some super stupid stuff or a incredibly cute thing.
But for youtube and twitter the chances are less if your content is not worthy!

If you're good at creating stuffs, you could try even reddit.

What sort of things should you create and how exactly would this work? Is this where you say, give away a free ebook or something and get thousands of email submits which then allows you to direct them to another site or forum???

One for example, I have a wallpapers website. I created a slideshow of a some FAIL Pictures with watermark to my website, and posted it on facebook, that became somewhat viral and I got lots of traffic to the website!

Ah ok- but what are the chances of it going viral and how do you make (or improve your chances of making it) it go viral??

Well, I own a few pages in facebook, with good number of fans. The largest being 97,000 fans!
The biggest part is making the user click on this. If its being hosted of facebook itself, the chances are more. If people have to goto another website, we will see, there are not may people who will do that!

I have a lot to improve on my skills on making something for viral marketing. Its not like everything I make are going viral, but I used to try every now and then.

I did not have luck with it I tryed but failed. Still if you succeed you can do pretty well. I managed to make a video to hit 60k hits and it brought me some visitors to my site
