Nope. It pings xml-rpc servers to tell them your content has been updated, totally different thing It's kinda like how wordpress notifies google and other services when you publish a new article.

Had to ask because pingbomb did the whois links thing to get your site indexed faster. Soooo spammy. Good to hear this is legit though. Have it bookmarked for when I need to use it.
