Painful truth or comforting lie?

For me, I would like the truth upfront as the lie would be found out later and could possibly hurt even more.

What would you pick?

When it comes to being told the truth or a lie I would much rather be told the truth no matter how bad it was over being told a lie just so that I wouldn't be upset. Many people will tell a lie in a bid to protect someone from the truth but I always feel that does more harm than good.

I would go with the painful truth all the time. I would feel better after a while but getting the comforting lies and only to get the sad truth later will be very painful.

The saying that only the truth can set you free is completely true. I've been in this kind of situation some years ago. I tried lying for so long but I had to rest or peace of mind until I ended up saying the truth.

Exactly! Most people don't understand or know what lying does to you after you have been found out. It puts everything that you have ever said into scrutiny. I wouldn't ever do that to myself with anyone I have something with.

Tell me the truth at all times no matter how bad it sounds. I'll do my best to understand it and accept it more than lying to me and my finding out it's a lie. It will break our relationship.

There's nothing like a comforting lie to me. It's not going to be comforting when I found out it was a lie. This is why I want to hear the truth at all times no matter how painful it's going to be.
