It's worth noting that MyBB 1.9 will have a mobile ready default theme. I don't know when that will come out, it seems like they have been working on it a long time.

The default theme is not responsive, but some themes are released freely that are responsive. Other than that progress is really slow on 1.9 but notably worth it whenever it’s released.
