Must I follow preset rules to be successful in business?

What I have seen as it relates to ways through which someone can start up a business successfully are mostly tips. And tips are just like advice, not rules that we must follow before your business can be successful. These tips are meant to guide you in the process of starting up your business and so therefore you must come up with your own unique style to make a business successful.

You do not have to follow preset rules to be successful in business. You have to stand out and think outside the box if you plan to succeed. Not following preset rules doesn't mean your own rules must go against existing rules of engagement and ethics of the business.
