ROI stands for return on investment.

A return on investment is simple. It is simply what you get in return after you invest in something. The investment could be monetary, it could be your time and energy, or it can be your skill set.

Investment for a for a member could be creating a membership and being active on the forum. That is their time and energy and dedication to the forum.

Investment for a forum owner is third time and energy in managing the forum. It is the money they’ve spent in the initial creation and continuation of the forum.

What is the return for the forum member? What is the return for the forum owner?

These are important questions to answer. They will help you determine if having an online community is worth it. Both you the forum owner and them the forum member should get an ROI. If only one person is getting the ROI and not the other, the community is a failure. Both parties must get an ROI.

This is a good way to determine if your online community will be successful or not. Are both you and the member give him a return on investment?

What do you think about this?
