Member of the month on your forum?

I’m gonna have a MOTM topic up today, packed with some cool features and perks as well as a scoring system. Just a little heads up.

The first forum that I won MOTM award, I was given a reward of $5. It's not much but I valued it so much because it's an appreciation for all my efforts on the forum.

I've never won MOTM on any forum I was on that had it sadly! I cannot offer money as an option if anyone did become MOTM on my forum or anything like that either. Good for the forum owners that can do that and it does make you feel valued winning it or being given some incentives.

Definitely will be having a hall of fame, that's a good idea.

Since I started using forums, most of them have or run a member of the month award or contest in their forums. Also, they have top poster of the month award and tracker too where everyone can see who's the leading top poster.

I run MOTM on my forum and award a cash prize - it's good for engagement and building community loyalty.

I actually forgot to mention I am a volunteer on a teen/young adult site and volunteer on it. I was one of three people who won the July 2022 outstanding contribution award. I had been a teen on the site many years ago seeking advice/support, and used to also use it to chat with other teens at the time.

Winning that award l feel/felt appreciated and good about myself. This is why I am fine with of the month stuff.

I like Member of the Month when members can make nominations. Sometimes I notice people only vote for their friends... I always preferred if you nominated someone, you must state why for the nomination to count. Even if they do not win, they would feel appreciated, and really at the end of the day we all want a bit of appreciation! I especially like member of the month on general forums - but I can see it on other niche's as well.

I also think a great idea would be themed nominations...

So let's say this month's theme is caring... Who would you nominate as the most caring member for this month?

Next month... perhaps it is the most innovative member, who would you nominate for that?

I think that could help keep it fresh as well!
