Marketing- where do you guys promote your sites?

I have a fantasy of my site turning into something like this-

I love reading comments, so I try to find avid commenters. Although, I think posting links in comments is tacky. Most often, I'll just send out cold emails to people that I would like to check out my site.

I know social media is a common- what are your specific techniques in that area? Outside of the the circle of forums, where else do you go to grow your audience/user base?

I would focus energy on advertising your website on Twitter. Create captivating content and make sure to use hashtags. I would also research which hashtags are most used.

When I have time, I promote on social media sites. Not much of a facebook fan, but twitter I am definitely a fan of because it gets me tons of traffic.

Social media mainly. I do utilize ppc ads but only with select websites like Reddit just because of the cheap price and traffic.

Social media is probably the best place to go. I use all of the networks, some more than others depending on what site, blog, or product I am trying to push. I think overall I have the best luck with Twitter. Instagram is blowing up right now and that works for me in certain cases.

I have to agree with everyone else. Social media is the tops in promotion for my sites. I have mostly used the free methods with them, but I am looking into paid ads now.

I promote mostly on social media. That's where everybody is at nowadays. Why should I waste efforts elsewhere if I get the same result using social media.
