Making Money from a Directory

In the past, these directories could used as cash cows, a source of paid links that would provide a decent or above average income maybe for the owners (of directories). However, these days people are more cynical about directories. Some people even think they hurt SEO. Nonetheless, Google says high-quality directories are still safe. Maybe it was said they are even a major advantage, not sure.

O.K., so who has considered getting into the directory biz?

I do not think it is possible to this these days as Google does not like backlinks form link directories, however, in the past it was one of the best methods to build backlinks and a lot of people used to pay to get theior sites listed in the lnk directories.

Google likes high-quality directories. In that case, I think it could be a cash cow, but you'd have to build a really big, high quality one I think.

Anyway, it might be worth the trouble, but I haven't gotten around to it.
