Lock picking

Lock picking is the practice of unlocking a lock by manipulating the components of the lock device without the original key.

Although lock-picking can be associated with criminal intent, it is an essential skill for the legitimate profession of locksmithing, and is also pursued by law-abiding citizens as a useful skill to learn, or simply as a hobby (locksport).

In some countries, such as Japan, lock-picking tools are illegal for most people to possess, but in many others, they are available and legal to own as long as there is no intent to use them for criminal purposes.

Can you pick a lock? Is this a skill you'd like to have?

I would honestly not have a clue where to start when it comes to lock picking if I am honest. I have seen it done in games where you have to pick locks and even then I can sometimes struggle with that but to have the ability to work out different things to look for to ensure I am getting somewhere to unlock the lock would be something I would struggle with. Definitely wouldn't risk it if there was a risk of getting caught as I would be the first one caught LOL

I am thinking about what you will do when such friends gain access into your house without your knowledge? Sometimes, being friends with some people may end up having some negative sides to it, and that is where the challenge is.

No. But I can lockpick in Fallout 4 and Skyrim like it's nothing. 😂

I have never picked a lock in my life and I don't have a skill to do so. The only thing that I can actually tell you about picking a lock is that I've broken so many keys expertly when I lock myself out of my house without having my key. I will simply use a very strong harmer and break the key and enter back my house.

You must have been a careless person to have broken a lot of locks. I am literally laughing at this because I can't remember breaking more than two locks all my life as I have been very careful with keeping my keys safe.

Yeah, that's very correct you can say that again. When it comes to keys, I'm very careless with them. I would ask not to hold any keys because I would most likely drop it somewhere without knowing. It's the reason why I have my keys in my pocket most of the time. Once they come out, on the scale of 1 to 10, it's 8 that I will misplace the damn key.

No, I've not picked any locks. There's a movie which I watched earlier this year Locksmith, it was interesting how the guy picked locks in the movie. I know some of it are film tricks but it's what the actual work looks like.

I have actually seen the trailer of this movie Locksmith and it looks very interesting but I haven't really been able to watch the movie. Picking locks is a very tactical skill which I don't think is going to be very easy for someone to master it to the extent of becoming a professional in it unless you are dedicated and committed to learning how to do it.

You should watch the movie I mentioned about previously. It's The Locksmith, if you paid attention, you will learn a few things about how to pick locks and even handcuffs.

When it's a padlock 🔒, I don't have any need learning how to pick it you know? I will simply use a blot cutter and get it over with in less than a 5 seconds 😂.

Using a blot cutter will destroy the key padlock. If you can pick the lock and preserve the padlock, it will be saving you money. It doesn't take long to pick a lock.

Well, I cannot deny that you don't have a very good point which is something good. It is just that I am not that patient when it comes to doing something like picking a lock. It is the reason why I prefer to do it the quicker way even though it is going to cost me money replacing the lock.

I have no clue how to picklock. I think if I ever were to try, it would be to get into my own home after probably being locked out.

The only way I have been able to prevent myself from trying to pick my lock which I don't have any knowledge of how to do it or even breaking the lock in order for me to get inside is by keeping a spare key somewhere outside my house in case I ended up locking my keys inside the house. I will have one outside that I can always use to unlock the doors.

You're an adult to know what works best for you. If it's cutting the keys and buying a new one, the expenses comes from your pocket. As long as you can pay for it, this is all that counts.

Fortunately, it is not something that I would start worrying about right now because locks are not actually that very expensive. I don't like wasting time on anything that I'm doing which is the reason why I prefer to have everything cut off and replaced immediately as quickly as possible.

I know some people can open a lock without a key but I was not aware of the term lock picking. I don't have that skill
