I want to know your opinion: who is better for webhosting , a linux or windows server ?

Maybe you have used or have knowledge in this field.

In terms of popularity and integration I would prefer Linux based web hosting which used by most of websites right now and it is affordable too. I found some information below which will clear your mind:

"Most web hosting service providers offer two kinds of hosting: Linux hosting and Windows hosting. In general, Linux hosting refers to shared hosting, the most popular hosting service in the industry. In fact, most of the websites are now hosted using Linux hosting due to its affordable price and flexibility. Linux hosting is compatible with PHP and MySQL, which supports scripts such as WordPress, Zen Cart, and phpBB. Windows hosting, on the other hand, uses Windows as the servers' operating system and offers Windows-specific technologies such as ASP, .NET, Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL server (MSSQL)."

Windows server is compatible too with php and mysql... i think.

It's better to go with Linux web hosting.
Not because it's popular but you can use MySQL and PHP with Linux web hosting. Where as Windows web hosting is all about ASP.net, Microsoft SQL server and such. They have different technologies involved. If you are comfortable with Windows, then you can always opt for it.

For Linux, despite the name, you don't need to know Linux to take care of stuff. So, it all comes down to personal preference.

For me Linux is better than Windows for hosting because ia using lower amount of RAM which means more stable system.

Windows servers and the Azure is expensive. You will find much better performance with the Linux hosting. Your site downtime will be less and speed would be lot faster than windows. Also Linux is cheaper considering the operating system is free of cost. And the plans with the Linux VPS are cheaper as well. So you should go with the Linux if you have the option.

Definitely go with Linux over Windows. Most software require Linux based servers to operate, there are some software out there that were built with Windows servers in mind though. Plus if you run into issues, more people may be able to help you since more people are most likely familiar with a Linux setup. It's also cheaper to go the Linux route too in most cases.

I never used hosting service till now honestly.
However in term of popularity, it is WordPress which is used for hosting. If you want to host, do not worry about Linux or Windows, just take the best option available.

They both do the job really well, if you're into complex integrations ,go for Linux , otherwise everything does already support Windows

I haven't gone so deep in anything web but I just contacted a very good friend whose selection I don't understand that very well but he preferred the windows option.

Windows phone boast a user friendly interface and handy features such as live ties. Android is the most customizable making it a good fit for power users. Meanwhile windows phone offers a simple but powerful interface that’s backed up by the overall selection of apps.

Linux hosting is what I prefer most. I've been using it for quite sometimes now, and I've never encounter any glitch or error on it. It also gives more more edge over others on PHP and http.

I think both of these options will do the job perfectly well because this is their main and primary jobs. Linux hosting and window server are a very good way to host your website.
