Keeping A Forum Active

What do you do to keep members active? I've seen people offer rewards for posting. I've also seen forums remind people that they exist.

Keeping a forum active is one of the most difficult things when running a forum, it's about keeping the content flowing on the forum that people are interested in that they enjoy talking about and sometimes, that isn't as easy as it seems. Offering rewards for things like the most active member in one week or in a month works well I found but also, if you are able to, engaging in post exchanges with other forums really does help with keeping your forum active but also advertising your own forum in some cases. If you are able to invest in your forum, paying people to post is always another option to keep your forum active.

I think having an active staff-base can really help keep activity flowing from your member-base as well. Contests can always help bring in some activity, especially if they’re catered to generating more activity. Just keeping the content flowing in generally keeps the activity steadily growing on your board.

I just keep posting & creating content. Try to think of new ways to set my forum apart from others. As if holistic isn’t enough It doesn’t worry me; just can be a downer when you work so hard at it. I may incorporate more Post Exchanges with other forums.

Keep posting unique content every day, and have contests here and there. This can help bring back some members and can help keep people posting. As long as there's at least one other member on the forum posting, you can keep that forum active.
