I've been thinking recently about something I can do to occupy my time (Other than here! XD) whilst talking about something I actually know and care about and I came to the conclusion that in a sense, I care for the state of my country and its future (England/UK incase you're wondering). I was thinking about setting up a blog to post my opinions about the country, how it could be 'fixed' if you will because I think something like that has a lot of discussion value amongst people my age over here.

Whilst it probably contradicts what I have said about personal blogging in another thread on here I just feel it has some form of value other than a personal platform for me and could be a platform for others to share their views and such. I am toying with the idea of even having an open blog where people can just submit what they want to say (Moderation enabled of course) so i was just wondering what you think about this idea. (British citizens or not, give me your opinion XD)

The idea is pretty awesome and I guess it will be a success in no matter of time!
But you have to be very careful about what people posts over there. It could get you into legal troubles if you know what I mean!
It has happened and it can happen again!

Well, the way this country is going everything will be illegal soon enough. xD But yes, I see what you mean mate but I'll just quote freedom of speech and claim police harassment should there be any trouble, haha. (Kidding, doubt that would work :p) But hmm, if you like the idea then it is a further push in the right direction. I have no money for a domain though so I am just going to go a free hosted WP blog and go from there. xD

Have you thought about maybe doing a couple of article writing gigs or something to earn your domain? :)

Let's assume he managed to get a domain by writing articles and stuff, but does this method still work in future?
When the idea grows, it would require a paid hosting and also domain renewals that cost more that the initial domain purchase.

If you feel strongly enough about something, then you should blog your heart out about it. Of course, you don't need paid hosting to make this work, just get a free blogger style blog (these are well indexed in Google and your posts are more likely to end up in search engines). And, just start writing. Over time, you will polish and perfect a conversational writing style. Have fun, post your link on other forums/blogs where allowed, act enthusiastic about your new blog and you will quickly develop a readership.
