I've seen forums that have "Jr. Admins" that are admins, but not full on admins with amazing admin powers. They're basically admins in training. :p

I've never gotten why people do this; how about yourself? Is this something you do on your forum, or something similar?

I think it is a good idea. That way you can train the people first and see if they are fit for the job.

Not something I'd do. Admins have always been the highest echelon of staff members (bar perhaps myself as owner), there's no separate tier system used. Obviously admins need training, but I'll conduct that behind the scenes - allowing them the power to do admin things, while teaching them, but without the responsibility. That way they can look in on more experienced admins, do some basic admin duties, but still not be classed as an admin yet.

This summed up my thoughts really well. I'm an admin on a million post promotion forum, and there we get full tools when we first get chosen. There is nothing in the ACP that I can do now that I couldn't do a few months ago. We get FTP access and such after a little while, but that's the only "tiered" type thing there is.
