The rate at which colleges/universities churn out graduates year in year out and with the issue of job scarcity, we've always been advised to learn a skill incase the labor market doesn't favor us, I've seen pharmacologists turn programers,lawyers turn digital marketers and political scientists becoming copywriters.
Is this the way forward?

Learning digital skills is the way forward, I will say.
A lot of opportunities now require knowledge on digital skill set.
