I once read sometime ago that one can easily create domain name and sell it as well to interested people.
Is domain name something one can get for free ?
Where are the sites where one can sell domain names ?

There are couple of domain extensions which are free. Like .tk or webs.com or co.nf and many others. If you want a top level domain like .com or .net then you will have to purchase hosting first.

Most of the web hosting companies, give away one domain name for free, if you purchase hosting. Just note that, it's only for an year. Later you will have to renew that domain name with your own money.
So usually free domain extensions like .tk or webs.com etc., you don't have to worry about renewal fee.

Thank you for clarifying this for me . Any idea on the second question of selling domain name ?

You can't sell a domain name you get for free. You can get one as low as $9 on namecheap and GoDaddy and sell at higher rate on different market place like Dan and Epik. Domian flipping requires good knowledge to make profits from though

As Nurudeen already stated, you can't sell free domain names.

Let's just say you got one by purchasing hosting, then of course you can resell that domain name. Do remember that, you have to go through all the terms and conditions of that hosting provider before doing that. I would recommend Namecheap to get domain names for that purpose. Their renewal rates are not that bad.

do you mean extension? like .tk? if yes, you can't sell it. everything you do / work on it, remains "theirs" as they say. you cannot sell the domain.

If they are free then they would have many lapses. No free food in Freetown. Go for a paid and enjoy your money.

at godaddy ".com" is just 1.15$ first year. so , don't choose free domain , just pay 1$ and you have a .com extension.

.co.uk is 0.01$ on godaddy. This is the cheapest online domain. You can get from 000website.com for free but this ending on domain is not professional.

Getting a domain name for free is not possible, the only thing possible is opening a free blogging website,

Yes it is possible, If you're a student , depending on the establishment you're enrolled in , you may have access to tools that provide free professional domains along with free hosting aswell.

There are numerous free domains. However, you should never consider using these free domains if you are serous about your website. Generally speaking free domains are misused by spammers and scammers. However, there are a lot of hosting companies that offer free top level domains when you buy hosting.

freenom.com is selling free and paid domains. You can check this site and if this is suitable for your business then you can try free domain. Or you can search on Google for more free sites.

That's not correct. You can get a free domain when you buy hosting from some some companies. For example a hosting company called ipage provides a free dot com to those who buy hosting package. By the way, there is also a domain registrar that provides free domains.

There are no free quality domain, the domain you will get for free are not of high quality and in demand, so you can't sell them.
The best way forward would be buying domains for cheap on site like GoDaddy and probably selling them off for more than you bought them later on. This is called Domain flipping.

There is no way you will get a domain name free, no registrar sell domain names free because it takes money to get those added values they are offering with the domain name registration. The one you can get free is sub domain name, something like FreshBreath.WordPress.com. however there are some registrar the offer latest extension like dot app, dot uk, dot live as bonus for a domain name you register with them.

You can get a domain for free for the first year if you buy hosting from some web hosts. However, it is not possible to get TLD for free. You can get free domains from freenom. However, freenom domains are frowned upon.
