I totally agree with you that most companies do have a plan in place for the successor of company but I will say that any company can continue after the owner's death depending on the plan that the company has put in place.

Exactly, i have seen cases whereby after the owners death, the wife or children takes over and starts running the business and till today the business is doing very fine. The only time the business dies along with the owner are cases whereby there are no able hands to pick up the business after the owners death

In your own point of view which I also supported, it's all depend on the management, whosoever run the business after the owner died is not the concern , Good management has a lot to do when taking over a business.
