Let's Encrypt is a free SSL provider. It is completely free, there are no hidden costs. It secures your site just like any other paid SSL. The only drawback is you will have to renew the certificate every 3 months. A lot of web hosts provide support for Let's Encrypt, however, you can also use it even when your host does not support let's Encrypt. By the way, how do you use Let's Encrypt on your forum if your web host does not support Let's Encrypt?

If you are using wordpress and if your web host does not provide support for free SSL, you can try installing Let's Encrypt SSL on your site.
Go to the plugin repository from your wordpress dashboard, search for free SSL and then install an SSL plugin. Activate the plugin. You will be asked to download files to be installed on your root folder. Once installed, you will have access to, certificates and keys. Copy the certificate and keys and then paste them into your SSL section of Cpanel. You are done. SSL will be activated.
