If free software's are no more free would you still use it?

A lot of users turn directly to paid software such Xenforo and IPB due to a handful of scripts being offered by this paid software. I tend to stick to free software until I can get a return for the paid software. If for any reason MyBB or any other free software turns to premium like IPB would you still use it?

In situations whereby I make quite a reasonable amount from the free software , I don't mind paying for it since I am making money through it

I use wordpress to build websites. Wordpress is free. I am using wordpress not because it is a free software, I use wordpress for its features and ease of use.

Honestly speaking, my decision would be based on what i am looking for, left for me i would stop using it and look for another that is free. But if the features i need can only be found on that particular software, or it offers the best services then i have no choice but to stick to it till i find something free to replace.

Of course I would. The softwares I use are really important for my job and also if they are no longer free, i will still have to pay for them.

With respect to it's importance, if I have to pay for it, I will definitely do. The owners of the softwares also have to be encouraged as regards their hard work and activities.

Well, I am quite sure most of the people would not buy the software and look for alternative softwares that are free to use. People always like free products and this is why they look for sites that ofer free softwares.

Since they are upgrading to the premium packages, I believe they will also upgrade in their services. This can only motivate me to continue with the software since I'm acquainted with it.

I used free platform in blogging, both WordPress and Blogger. I understand the need to start getting returns before paying for software and that's the logical thing to do. This will spare you financial losses if things don't work out.

I think the main reason why MyBB is such an attractive option for forums is that it is free but has a great selection of features, themes, and plugins. However, if they end up charging for it, I don't think it would hold up as well especially if you compare it to both XenForo and IPB. As a XF user, it's a lot better than MyBB

If a person have a popular forum on MyBB he will not lose works of years just because MyBB charges a licence for continue of use it he will pay for sure but if a person has trial forum then he may not pay for continue use.

Depending, if I can't do without it I have no problem to splash my cash. But if there are alternative that are still free I wouldn't mind leaving

If the software is really useful then won't mind paying for them. But there will be so many alternate software, which you could choose from. As website developers, we should encourage other developers by buying their software to show our love.

To be honest if there is a free software that is not longer being offered for free then i would probably just look for another website that can offer something for free rather than pay for it lol.

I like to keep my expenses low by using free software. One of the main reasons why I use wordpress, smf, phpbb or mybb is because these are free. Would I be still using these software if they were paid? Maybe I would search for other free software to use for my website.

If it's a good bit of software and is worth the money, I think I'd pay for it. As well, some software you use is a free trial basis, so you will eventually have to pay anyway otherwise you won't be able to utilize it.

Now if they make a paid version and don't give more for the paid version after using the free version, than it's probably not worth it.
