If you are promoting and marketing products and services or even a website, you need to write captions that gets people interested. For instance, if you publish videos, it need to have a good caption, if you published a photo, it also need to have interesting caption.

To write better caption, you need to be real and honest. People like it when you're genuine.

Share some information that get people interested and wanting to learn more about what you're selling.

Use of the <figcaption></figcaption> tag can be helpful for images and videos as long as it isn't overused.

I don't think that you need captions for long videos though. Save them for short videos or gifs.

What is more important is making sure your images always have alt text for those using screenreaders. That's just good internet courtesy.

Having alt text for your images help you to rank on search engines for your images but even with just proper tags, you can reach your audience. Tags on images and videos work like keywords. These days, I use Gen AI tools to get appropriate captions and tags.
