Well, it might be possible that certain companies actually rent a place in order to start a cafeteria. However, I think that most of the time, the cafeteria itself is owned by the company itself.
That is very true and it is mostly common among big business ventures. Even at that the workers will not get the stuff for free because they will also pay for it. That is one of the ways that use to generate profit.

You can set up a cafeteria in an office so that this will motivate workers with voracious appetite to carry out their duties. You need to set it up in another room in the building so that they can concentrate on work all time. They will just go to next room to get their snacks or food.
Cafeteria is the office will reduce the workers movement from going out everytime just to eat out, because some workers even use it as an excuse to go somewhere else using food as an excuse .

If you're running a business/store/shop whatever and there are a fair deal of employees, it's probably a good idea to establish a cafeteria before starting people. It's best to have your bases covered before starting, and I think it'd be ideal to have a place to eat for your employees right out of the gate and not later.
