Leader play a very important role in any kind of business. The fact of the matter remains that leadership could lead to success and this is what I believe. Having said that, I think that each and every department in every business has a leader who leads people. There are certain kinds of characteristics and qualities that a successful leader possess. So, how do you opt for the best leader for a specific department?

In many organisations, leaders are selected from within the organisation. This leads many people to search for talented leaders within the business circle. Having said that, the best performing employee usually becomes the leaders in any organisation, as such people are preferred by the seniors.

I am totally in support of promoting an existing staff whom have proven to be a very good asset to the business to the post of becoming a leader. This is because the experience on the job will give the person an edge in making sure that's a very good job is done in his department.

I thankfully do not have to do this, not anytime soon at least. My plans are very small scale but with big turnout. Nothing that will make me rich but enough to make life easier. I would have a hard time choosing a leader.

For me, I would even suggest setting a task that you are going to use and decide whom you are going to appoint as a leader in your company without even informing them the reason why you are giving them the task. It will help you to see how each and every staff is going to be able to handle the situation.

A leader must know why he is being made a leader in the first place. If a person does not know who and why he would lead, then it may become a very hard thing for them when it comes to leading others. This is why it is much better to understand this role in a Holistic manner.
 
There are a couple of questions you need to ask yourself.
Is this person loyal to the company?
Does this person have enough skills, knowledge, and experience required for the position?
Does this person help the company to bring more revenue based on what he does?
Is this person liked but most workers in thew company?
if you get favorable answers to these questions, you can hire him or her for the job

We must also make sure that we appoint a confident person for the job. Confidence is also one of the main characteristics of a great leader. If a leader becomes nervous, then they may not be able to handle the job in the first place, so this factor is also quite crucial as well.

This is practically the reason why training is also very important because it is going to help you to sharpen those who are supposed to do the job very well in a way that they know exactly what they are supposed to do and when they are supposed to do it. This is so that the company will not suffer any kind of setback for appointing the wrong person.

Although at the working place we mainly have to deal with different type of people but I consider my boss as my leader because everything he says is important. Whatever he blesses me, I follow it and this is the guarantee of my success.

As long as an employee standout amongst his mates in the company, the staff is always going to have more chance of being selected as a department head. This is how it's been done in all the companies that I have worked. I have been chosen as a departmental head that same way.
