I think there are ways you can get more traffic. You have to share your content to the places where you can easily get people to your site. Say facebook groups. I think there is no one like to exchange backlinks with dummy community unless the two communities are popular and have a lot of users and a good database for such purpose. Otherwise email newsletters most of people label them to spam folder as getting a lot of newsletters at the same time. For the rest it is OK.
