That is just the wise thing to do,i could remember a friend who tried to do some shopping online,not knowing that the source was not a trusted one,all his money was swept off his account after inputing his card details.

I don't like exposing my credit card or debit card online. I always try to use pypal, even when I do not have a balance on my paypal I will use my card through paypal which secures my card information.

Concerning how safe it is to buy online using credit card. Well, it is totally safe when you buy from a known and legit retailer or online store. I go scammed a time like that when a friend of mine used my credit card on one ad promo that came across my screen, I got a debit alert the following week without buying anything, I had to block the card to get another one. I don't use credit cards to buy stuff online, not even when shopping at reputable stores. In fact, I don't feel secure about using my credit cards to pay for anything online. Giving credit card information and the CVV can expose one to potential fraud which could be committed by the store itself or its employees. I agree with you.
I think it is okay to buy online with your credit card, but you have to be aware that fraud is possible even in this case. People can use fake identities to invite and steal from u suspecting buyers, so you have to be sure of the website or online store you're making your purchase.
